2011 marks a big change for me and the first chance I have had to paint full time. This new website is where I will post work coming out of the studio. I do appreciate getting feedback, good or bad, so please don’t hesitate to comment.

This painting is wildly evocative. It captures the atmosphere of the place so completely I was able to experience all over again the frisson of anticipation and adventure which I first felt when ascending the hill to Mas Du Diable. Very nicely done.
Your landscapes are awesome Laura, (the still lifes are less my bag and are wasted on me…ever the philistine).
Exciting news about the show. Good luck. T x
the painting is coming along Laura – one gets a sense of time of day (siesta time?) and your handling of dark and shadow is very convincing
well spotted Vicky
it was about 3 o’clcock when i jotted down the light composition, although in winter there are not enough dayligt hours for a siesta. The sun has been shining nearly all month and it is so dry everything looks like summer. T I wish you were coming up the track – I might have to try a painting of your grotto. It now has a sump in it to stop the track getting washed away but it is still magical.
Oh Laura, I felt I was there again too. I had no idea you were an artist!! Thanks for putting the link on your other blog. Beautiful…. you will do well I am sure.
Thanks Kate – I spent so long working, growing food and the rest that I think I almost forgot myself – but lets hope if I focus things will work out – I’ve wanted to be an artist since I was 11 years old – went to art school as soon as I could leave school – and then life’s necessities took over. I finally realised that there is no point living a life unless you are at least trying to do what you are truly meant for and what makes you happy.
Hope all is well down-under and that our paths cross again one day.
Beautiful …Gauguinesque….u are doing what you love and u capture it in colors …can’t wait to see more of your art…all the best in your pursuit.
Laura, is your mas open for visitors or curious bloggers…? or by invitation only? hope no offence taken
Thanks Chitra .. I take that as a real compliment – you are the second person to mention Gaugin – my neighbour said I paint land like Gaugin painted people – travelling and picking up a bug has knocked me off stride but I was back in the studio today – first full day since the exhibition – working on a new landscape – will post it up when its finished – subscribe then you’ll get updates automatically.
Mas du Diable is our home so no it is not open – but I may take part in an open studio thing that happens in this area which would mean opening the studio for a month in the summer for visitors.
Hi Laura! Remember me – from french classes in Uzes & living in La Magnanerie St Siffret? Sold up now & living in St Maximin just down the road. Had it in mind to contact you & just found your website – I think the work you have done on the garden is incredible & I love your art work – it stuck me immediately as I remember walking up that track when I came to your dry stone wall course! What talent. I’m full of admiration.
Very best wishes & great sucess. Judy
Thanks for the lovely comments Judy – I’ve had to stop painting for the last couple of months as we had work contracts back to back – but getting back to it tomorrow – great to hear from you. Be great to catch up. We’ve done such a lot to the place since you were last here. All fenced in now so no pesky pigs to uproot my rare seed saving garden and wild chillis.
Hi Laura: Just seen your work on FB/SaatchiOnline. I never knew you painted! Love your stuff on there and looks like there’s more here so will take a look around. Thanks for sharing! x
Thanks Jo
I did not study painting at Art School in Glasgow I studied Environmental Art and at St. Martins I studie dfilm – but painting is my first love and after twenty some years after leaving art school i finally got the space, time confidence to get back to it. I am just starting out really so much to learn but loving it.
How exciting that you’ve become a full-time artist. And the paintings are wonderful, with hints of Cezanne as well as your own individual style. Good luck with it!
Hi Laura,
I like your painting very much been French and going back every years I travel very often to some of the region you painted.
