This series of aquarelle sketches are based on drawings i did from an east coast train travelling south to Newcastle earlier this year. As the landscape whizzes past the shuffle and fold of vision and memory create new imaginary places.

Painted in various water based pigments and inks on heavy paper, 21cm x 15cm

Postcards From Laura: Cucurbiteae series

This series of aquarelles are of plants in the Cucurbitaceae family; all edibles I’ve grown in our garden here in France. I love cucurbits and this is only a few of the hundred or so varieties I’ve grown so far.

Painted in various waterbased pigments and inks on heavy paper, 21cm x 15cm

Figs on a Branch Studies

This is a series of small paintings I did last summer. Quick sketches of figs in aquarelle: watercolour, washes, handmade dyes, inks and water soluable pencils. I just got round to rounding up all the images and posting the whole series.

Here’s a little detail of one.

Bridge to Cessous

This lovely little bridge leads to the small hameau of Cessous in the valley at the bottom of our mountain. I painted this in early spring on a warm but dry day.

Postcard Paintings February 2011

This series of small paintings, inspired by the magical landscape of the Cevennes mountains in France, are only 15cm x 10cm, the size of a postcard. Framed in stained wood they were part if a series of paintings I did for the exhibition Natural Rythm in Scotland Feb-March 2011.

Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. I took them at the gallery rather than in my studio. These paintings are for sale, price £70.
